Garnet

Garnet is a silicate mineral type that has been used as an abrasive in a wide range of industrial and pre-industrial manufacturing processes. The Garnet that we procure & process has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, making it extremely durable for industrial uses.

The Reddish Coloured Garnet is very popular among the other varieties. Our garnet is environmentally friendly abrasive when compared to the other abrasives used around the globe. We predominantly deal with ‘Almandine & Beach’ Garnet which is the heaviest and hardest of all the Garnet varieties.

While using our Garnet, you will be able to achieve an optimum surface profile with low dust emission. Additionally, our Garnet has high abrasion index with proportionate ratio of required particle size which makes it the best for Sandblasting and Waterjet cutting applications.

IREL OSCOM GARNET

The only permitted exporter of Beach Sand Minerals from India is IREL INDIA LTD, a government entity in India. IREL is the biggest producer of beach sand minerals from India. We, GLR Minerals, Have a strategic tie-up with IREL for local supply of OSCOM Raw Garnet.

We process IREL’s OSCOM Garnet in our authorized processing facility in Odisha, India, (UNIT 1) in accordance with customer specifications prior to export via IREL Canalisation.

We provide the following IREL OSCOM GARNET Mesh Sizes:

Applications

Water Filtration

The Coarser Grades of Abrasive Garnet has a hard or rough surface that helps in efficient water filtration processes in the respective industries. The fluid is made to pass through a multilayer filter made of abrasive sand beds, layered with gravel and layers of activated or anthracite carbon for fluid transparency and drainage. The suspended materials floating in the fluid are then removed.

Our Garnet quality that is best suited for Water Filtration are

Sandblasting

Sandblasting uses a pressurized abrasive jet to help remove the deeper areas of a material by abrasion. The most typical application is to polish the surface of metals, although other applications include carving images on marble, stones, and tiles.

The medium coarse grades are most frequently used for sandblasting.

Waterjet Cutting

When the abrasive Garnet is used in combination with the water jet method, extremely hard materials can be cut without generating heat. This technology is distinguished by its high level of precision, short setup times, and fast cutting speeds.

The finer grades of garnet sand are utilized for Waterjet.
